Emily works by phone or in person.
The client's concious focus is encouraged to "flood" any part of their body, creating a powerful sense of awarness of the body. This is deeply healing work, and as such is difficult to describe.
This work can be very helpful when a client is experiencing challenging "life situations" and processing many emotions, or finding their mental processes overwhelming.
Emily works to encourage the client to attend only to the "feeling" or sense perception which is alive at that moment in the body. Any "conceptual" thoughts, or judgments, or "labels" are not given much attention. What is important in this work is the attention given to the actual moment.
When working with the body in this way, often the locked becomes unlocked and released. The body may have been holding on to unprocessed issues, and with this work can at last bring the issues up to the light.
Emily will not encourage great detailed descriptions of past events. This is counter productive.
Rather, she will attend to the actual feelings the body is experiencing in the here and now. This makes for a deeply truthful experience.
Whatever comes up is accepted. There is no resistance to it. Even if it is a feeling of "non-acceptance" of whatever it is (and this is common), that in itself is not resisted, and tends to dissolve in the depth of acceptance.

Emily works from home, so please expect a very informal atmosphere on arrival.
BIOGRAPHY
With a background in dance, Alexander Technique, Yoga, Psychotherapy, Shiatsu and traditional massage, Emily Edmunds offers a very broad knowledge of physical, emotional, and spiritual disciplines as the basis to her bodywork.
As a student of dance Emily suffered a cycling accident which created the cause to seek physical help in the form of massage, shiatsu, and osteopathy. As she recovered, her fascination with massage had taken root, and she decided to devote her energies to developing her own technique.
She found an unexpected correlation between her physical body and her emotional world. Each massage session became an epiphany! At the time, Emily was experiencing many issues from her childhood and past lives, and decided to embark on a journey of discovery, combining Gestalt Psychotherapy sessions with regular massage. The combination provided an ideal state for healing.
Emily has been studying massage since 1994, and in 1999 qualified as a practioner of therapeutic massage with The London College of Massage, studying with Marcus Salnicki.
Emily uses a variety of techniques, gleaned from her years of study and research, ranging from classic Swedish style, to Eastern acupressure, to healing energy flow, Reiki style, and basic understanding of chakra blocks and emotional stagnation. Every treatment Emily gives is different, because every person has there own ever changing needs.
Emily is currently being coached by Liz Foster, undertaking a 12 week course in "shadow" work.
