INTERREG IIIC SusSET PROJECT:

STEERING GROUP MEETING

on 13 MAY 2006

at AIGEON, GREECE

Present:          Project Manager

                        All Regional Co-ordinators

                        All town representatives

Points of Agreement:

Action

  • Retain Scottish conference date of 31 Aug – 2 Sept, despite forthcoming elections.  Programme to be flexible to accommodate longer workshop sessions of two to three hours.

NB/AC

  • Theme progress to be presented in Scotland.  Accepted that ‘Whole Town Strategy’ is well developed, but others need deepening.  Agreed that gaps in project practice must be filled (e.g. as reported by theme leaders in Pyrgos).  Agreed that Steering Group members will encourage and support town staff to complete the gaps before Scotland.

All

  • Project Manager to expand on monthly milestones and Theme Leaders to prepare timescaled plans for delivery and completion.

NB/HJ/

KN/SA/

IK

  • As successfully piloted in Åmål on ‘tourism’, agreed that each theme group considers a face-to-face meeting for practitioners (e.g. one per town) in order to develop each theme, connect theory with practice, and exchange/transfer knowledge.  Agreed that all nations will participate in process.  Theme leaders to extend invitation to others.

HJ/KN/

SA/IK

  • Each town will identify areas where it can offer assistance to other towns.

ALL

  • Each town to further clarify and explain its own goals for the project.

ALL

  • Hel (replacement Polish town) to be integrated quickly into SusSET and asked to test the ‘Whole Town Strategy’ framework.

NB/IK

  • Participants coming to Scotland to be briefed and prepared to input, especially on project practice issues.  Agreed that good practice examples can be slotted into ‘Whole Town Strategy’ framework through remaining period of project.

  • Lead Partner to appoint academic researcher to collate and interpret SusSET material.

NB

  • Skeletal first draft of SusSET final output to be prepared for Steering Group January 2007.
