AGM and Taste of Stonehaven 2008

Gordon Ritchie and Doug PatonAt Stonehaven Business Association AGM on Monday 7th April, Doug Paton stood down after 2 years as Chairman and Gordon Ritchie after 8 years as Secretary.

The Association thanked them for their loyal service.

New Office Bearers were elected as follows

Chairman – George McGillivray
Vice Chairman – Frank Budd
Secretary – Kath Thorndycraft
Treasurer – Charles Sands

Committee – Alan Smith, Dennis Leiper, Raymond Douglas, Raymond Milne, Maureen Brown, Lesley Duff, Ian Edwards, Karen Runcie. Gordon Ritchie, Ivan Groundwater

A resolution was passed that Stonehaven Business Association will become a Company Limited by Guarantee.

After the Chairman and Treasurer’s report, George McGillivray who had been Chairman of Stonehaven its Special Tourism Group reported on the Group’s activities and confirmed that the group was now a sub committee of the Business Association and Frank Budd was taking over as Chairman of the group now to be known as the Stonehaven Tourism Group. The group will meet on the 3rd Monday of every month at 7.30pm at the St Leonard's Hotel and all tourism related business owners are urged to get involved to share ideas on the best way to promote Stonehaven for the benefit of all.

Gordon Ritchie outlined the plans for a new Initiative to designate Stonehaven as a Food Town and although he was stepping down as Secretary, he would remain on the Committee to progress this initiative which is designed to enhance Stonehaven’s reputation for good local food shops, good places to eat etc. Further details can be found here.

Around 40 people attended and they were able to enjoy a Taste of Stonehaven after the formal proceedings and talk to the following local Businesses;-
