The Mearns
Rich agricultural land in The MearnsThe Mearns attracts bathers, birdwatchers, watersports enthusiasts and sea anglers. This area of natural beauty is rich in rolling fertile agricultural land. Stonehaven as the main town is ideally situated to tour The Mearns which streches from Portlethen in the North to Montrose in the South and west to Auchenblae, Fettercairn and the hills at Cairn o' Mount.

Coastal Trail
Coastal scene beyond Stonehaven
Stonehaven is an ideal location for exploring North East Scotland's Coastal Trail which winds it's way from St. Cyrus in the South through Stonehaven and Aberdeen to Kinnaird Head then round to Findhorn
The coast of Aberdeen City and Shire runs for more than 150 miles. Cliffs, coves, quaysides, beaches and bays are all approachable and provide endless opportunities for exploration.

Castle Trail
The region is rich in castle tradition. Having visited Dunnottar Castle , which was recently used as a film location for "Hamlet" starring Mel Gibson, you can explore The Castle Trail which offers you an amazing opportunity to visit some more of the finest castles in the UK.


Malt Whisky Trail
Fettercairn Distillery
You can reach one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, where you can sample 'the water of life' at Fettercairn which is only a 20 minutes drive from Stonehaven.

If Malt Whisky is your passion Stonehaven is also within easy travelling distance of the Highlands where you have an opportunity to partake in the Malt Whisky Trail and visit seven of Scotland's finest distilleries.
