Stonehaven Folk Club welcomed Ray Moore on Friday 3rd Nov 2006
A large turnout enjoyed a brilliant set from Ray Moore who was well known in the Pub Circuit in the area until he moved to England a few years ago.
He has now moved back to Aberdeen to the Torry area which he describes as the Canary Wharf of the North.

Having seen Ray Moore perform solo and with others in pubs, I was particularly keen to see how he would adapt to the totally different atmosphere of starring at a Folk Club at the Heugh Hotel Stonehaven.
In the first half Ray gave a very polished performance with some excellent reparti between songs – a new skill he has acquired – and he featured several songs which were old favourites when he played regularly at the Belvedere Hotel in Stonehaven many years ago.
In the second half, the crowd were entertained by talented local acts Sarah Marshall and John Docherty, and Paul Scott. Jimmy Law a visitor from Ayr wowed the crowd with some hilarious recitations from Robert Burns .
After a slightly nervous start to his second half spot, Ray Moore went on to prove he is now one of the best folk club acts available with an outstanding performance including three or four songs he had written himself
Some of the comments overheard in the audience were
“One of the best nights at Stonehaven Folk Club”
“ Enjoyed Ray’s stories about the songs”
“Ray’s music is lasting longer than his fringe”
“An excellent evening’s entertainment”
Folk Club Chairman, Dennis Collie was delighted with the large turnout and hoped this would help to attract some new members to the club.
