Stonehaven Open Air Pool was officially opened for the 2006 season on Sunday 4th June by former Olympic Gold Medallist Ian Black.
Chairperson Mrs Mary Mitchell introduced Ian Black to the eager crowd keen to enter the Pool despite the poor weather earlier in the day. Fortunately by 11am the sun was shining.
Ian Black expressed his delight at being asked to open the pool considering it was 50 years since he first represented Great Britain in Swimming Competitions.
He paid tribute to all the hard working members of The Friends of the Pool who were responsible for ensuring Stonehaven still retains this excellent facility and said he just couldn't imagine Stonehaven without the Outdoor Pool.
