The Father of the Bard Project Team will be screening two documentaries about the life and times of William Burnes, the father of Robert Burns.
The films will be shown in the Assembly Hall at Mackie Academy Stonehaven on Wednesday 17th June at 7.00 pm
7.00pm Introduction to the evening
7.05pm The Father of the Bard, Fly – on - the wall documentary (How the first DVD was developed)
7.35pm Refreshment Break
7.45pm The Drama Documentary, the Life and Times of William Burnes (Three generations of the family of Robert Burns are depicted, and culminates in William Burnes leaving Kincardineshire to seek his fortune in Edinburgh and Ayrshire.
8.30pm Close
Both of these documentaries have been shot entirely on location in historic Kincardineshire, and this is the first documentary to be produced about the Father of the Bard.
It is interesting that the documentary will be screened only a few miles from where William Burnes was born at Clochnahill, just outside Stonehaven.
This is an Aberdeenshire Council initiative, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, working with adults with learning disabilities.
The production was filmed and engineered by PHI production Studios, and involved people from Forest View Centre Stonehaven, Scolty Centre Banchory, and the pupils of Glenbervie Primary school, along with a wide range of community groups.
