Suction bowls are by far a great feature for not only newly self feeding child but also for the more experienced ones. Learning how to hold a spoon and then use it to pick up food can be complicated enough for a child. So having to master how to also keep a bowl from moving about just adds to the tasks that a child has to learn while self feeding. Therefore a bowl that sticks and does not move is a great help. If used on a surface such as a high chair tray this bowl does stick very well.
Spoons can also be a bit tricky for self feeding children. Accidents can happen as they try to manouvere a spoon by themselves into their mouths. For this reason I have made the heads of the spoons out of a soft silicone material that is very flexible so as not too hurt if they don't quite master the art of getting the spoon straight into their mouths every time and accidently hit their gums etc. There are two spoons in the feeding set and I have made one of the spoons angled which helps some children master the tricky operation of having to turn a spoon to properly fit it and the food into their mouths.
The shape of the bowl is deliberately higher and curved at the back to make it far easier for a child to get their food onto their spoon and to stop the food from just being pushed out of the bowl. This can lead to frustration and an unhappy child.
