The famous Dunnottar Castle is close by and well worth a visit. You can learn a lot about the History of Stonehaven at the Tolbooth Museum which is a two minute walk from the Ship Inn. Dunnottar Woods, only a short distance away, also offers interesting walks.
 Boat Trips when available are worth considering to see the the spectacular cliffs and thousands of birds at Fowlsheugh.
You can walk along the Boardwalk and enjoy stunning views of Stonehaven Bay before you reach the Promenade at the North end of Stonehaven. Here you will also find the Heated Outdoor Pool, Leisure Centre, Tennis Courts, Putting and Bowling Greens and the Stonehaven Golf Course.
