My background
I was raised on my parent’s farm in Nidderdale, so have been exposed to animal breeding and raising all my life. I chose, however, to follow the retail path and at sixteen joined a well known Pateley Bridge butchers and studied for The Institute of Meat qualification – eventually obtaining their Associateship. I also entered into many butchery competitions and won many awards for my skills.
I achieved my ambition of having my own shop in 1998, when I purchased the Grassington shop, which has since undergone an extensive facelift and the introduction of many new ideas. I have also developed a mobile unit for exhibitions and shows and opened a processing and direct marketing unit at Blubberhouses.
Rock View Meats
Together with my family I have recently founded Rock View Meats which are exclusively bred and reared on Rock View Farm.
The farm is owned by my parent’s (Geoff and Joan Robinson) and together with my brother Stephen (and a little help from junior Robinsons) produce high quality sheep, cattle and pigs to a specification we have arrived at to match our customers demands. The farm is Quality Assured, offers high welfare standards and the animals spend their whole time on the farm, eating only natural feedstuffs.
Slaughtered in Ilkley, processed in Blubberhouses and sold in Grassington, they must have some of the fewest ‘food miles’ parable.
This system creates ‘THE ULTIMATE FAMILY FOOD CHAIN’.
