'Cocoon'

Restoration of my 35ft Scottish fishing boat to a traditional gaff rigged cutter

I spent 4 great years restoring 'Cocoon', a 35ft Scottish fishing boat into a traditional gaff rigged cutter.  She was originally built in Peterhead, on Scotland's east coast by John Buchan and fished for many years out of Johnshaven, south of Aberdeen, before a gas explosion forced her out of service and she lay out of the water for a long time.

I found her in Largs, on the west coast of Scotland, of all places and had her transported by road back east, to my home in Stonehaven and began the painstaking task of rebuilding her.

I'm still in the process of building this page and will have more stuff shortly
Heading up the sound of Mull to Tobermory, the usual Scottish weather on our tail!
Cocoon was featured in 'Classic Boat' magazine not long after she was launched, in a well written article by Peter Rolt.
