Throughout July, August and early September we have the benefit of some superb Wood Pigeon flighting at our woods in South West Durham.
Pigeons tend to flight into our woods from mid-afternoon until early evening, a good wind from the West helps to keep them to a challenging but shootable height. As we get into mid-July the flightlines are strong and consistent with a good number of birds over a 3 to 4 hour period. Those of you who are familiar with challenge of intercepting Wood Pigeons on their flightline will appreciate that the challenge is not in the size of the bag but the very testing nature of the sport.
