1. How long does it take to get a website up and running? Anything from a week to a month depending on what kind of business you have and what kind of site you require.
2. What kind of information will I need to provide? You’ll be given a questionnaire that asks basic questions about your business in order for us to have a better understanding of what we’re designing the site to achieve. If you have photographs of your products we’ll need those, as well as your logo. If you don’t have one we can design one if you wish.
3. What if I want to update the site?
You will be trained how to update the site yourself, or have someone else trained if you wish. Training is easy; you or your staff only need to know how to use a word processor.
4. One of my younger relatives is rather handy with computers and has offered to design a site for me for free. Why should I pay a web design company?
I’m asked this question a lot.
To design a website for a business you need three key skills. Firstly you have to know how to build a website, obviously. I’m sure that your relative is competent at that.
Secondly you need graphic design skills. I’ll admit I don’t have this so I use an excellent graphic designer, Jamie. He’s in his first year out of university and is looking to impress. You should be sure that your relative has these skills or has access to them.
Thirdly, the most important of the 3 and the most expensive to hire are marketing and advertising skills. You are dealing with people’s livelihoods here so you need to know what you’re doing. I have marketed businesses in several different industries.
If your relative has experience in these 3 areas then I agree, why pay for a website! Make sure that he is still available when you want to update the site or that he has shown you how to do it.
5. How much does it cost?
Obviously it depends what you want. Prices are worked out as £150 for the homepage and £50 per page after that, so a basic site with a home page, contact us page and about us page would be £250 plus a £5 charge for each image. VAT is added to the final bill. Extras available include shopping carts, audio, video, virtual tours, logo design, specialist photography, search engine optimisation and marketing support.
There is a £30 per month hosting and support fee to ensure that your site does not suffer any downtime, as this can be a real problem with some servers.
If we get together for a chat about your ideas, we’ll be able to give you a much closer evaluation and all quotes are in writing.
6. Is it guaranteed?
YES.
The site will not go live until you’re totally happy with it. We ask for a 50% deposit beforehand to deter timewasters, and this is totally refundable. You can change your mind and cancel at any time prior to going live and for any reason.
