Local Attractions

Dunnottar CastleDunnottar Castle This impressive ruined fortress is probably the most visited attraction in the area. Less than two miles south of Stonehaven on the Kincardineshire east coast, this much-photographed ruined fortress is an impressive sight, overlooking the North Sea from its clifftop plateau. It includes an L-plan tower house, gatehouse, hall, chapel, Priest's House and covers an area of almost 3 acres.

Harbour at nightThe Harbour You cannot visit Stonehaven without visiting the Harbour.Meals available in two popular hostelries, a seafood speciality restaurant and Boathouse Cafe Bar.

The Tolbooth Museum is well worth a visit to learn more of the History of Stonehaven.

Open Air Pool Stonehaven Open Air Pool From the first weekend in June to early September, you can enjoy the unique attraction of Stonehaven's Open Air Pool. Fully heated.

Midnight Swims and barbecues are held on Wednesdays throughout the summer

Stonehaven Golf Club Golf  Stonehaven Golf Club lies on the Braes of Cowie overlooking the town of Stonehaven.

Though the course is short (par 66 and 5103 yards), it sets a testing challenge for all standards of golfer.

The course also provides magnificent views of the North Sea, Stonehaven Bay and the town itself, and of the ancient fortress of Dunnottar Castle.
