In July 2007 we completed a complete refurbishment of our Restaurant and Exmoor Bar, Entrance Hall and Reception area and it looks stunning. Take a look at our new photos! Our menu features mouth watering a la carte dishes, fresh local fish, local meat, homemade pies, fresh homemade rolls and desserts and some delicious locally made organic ice creams.
Come and relax over lunch or dinner in our comfortable a la carte non-smoking restaurant which is cool in summer and with roaring log fires in winter. Our style is Modern British and we run a regularly changing menu using seasonal, local produce wherever possible. Stocks and sauces are all made on the premises and everything is homemade. Fresh fish and vegetarian dishes are always included on the menu and we regularly cater for special diets.
The George Hotel was awarded 5 stars in the recent North Devon 'Scores on the Doors' Food Hygiene awards.
Devon has such wonderful local produce that we don't have to go far for the best. Local butchers Shapland & Searle supply our meat, sourced from local farms. We even know which farmer's meat we're serving in any particular week! Our organic milk and cream is supplied by award winning West Hill Farm, our fish, delivered up from Cornwall and our vegetables grown nearby too. Who could ask for more!
  
A la Carte Menu
Our menu is Modern British, combining the best of traditional british dishes with influences from other european cuisines. Every dish is presented beautifully and cooked to order and is a feast for the eyes.
Dine by candlelight in the restaurant or for small parties of up to 16 why not reserve our private dining room for that special occasion. For larger parties, we can reserve the entire restaurant (30 max) or our elegant function room (80 max).
Bar Menu
Our Bar Menu changes with the seasons too. In the winter, comforting homemade pies and casseroles and in the spring and summer delicious salads and light lunches. Our homemade burgers are so popular - they’re on all year round! Prices are very reasonable at £7.50 for the George burger. The Bar Menu is supplemented with daily specials at lunchtime and also available in the evenings.
Opening Hours
The Restaurant is open 7 days a week in the evening from 6.30pm-9.00pm (9.30 Fri/Sat last orders) and it is advisable to book in advance. We are open every day for lunch 12-2pm (last orders). Open for Sunday Lunch.
