The lake lies secluded in a beautiful and tranquil valley, a fold within North Devon’s rolling countryside. Rainbow Trout are stocked all year, with Brown Trout stocked from April to September. All trout are produced at Blakewell, so anglers will be guaranteed razor finned hard fighting trout .

Careful attention to the keepering of the lake and margins provides a continual variety of fly hatching, encouraging the trout to feed. Huge amounts of Damsels will hatch, flying from yellow iris growing in the shallows. Popular flies used at the Fishery are Pheasant tail nymphs, Buzzers, Hoppers, Daddy Longlegs, Small Gold heads and of course Damsels. The average weight of our trout stocked is 2.75 – 3lb, and they are topping out at around 15lb. They is a lovely middle grade in the lake 4 – 6lb and fin perfect, so hold on tight.

Bellbrook is situated in its own 40-acre valley, in the beautifully acclaimed Exe Valley in North Devon. The fishery consists of 7 lakes in a most picturesque setting in 40 acres of rolling Devonshire Heartland countryside. The lakes are stocked with Rainbow, Blue and Brown Trout. The fishery policy is to provide a wide range of fishing difficulty to suit everyone from the beginner to the more experienced. We do this by carefully managing the stocking levels in each of the 7 lakes. We operate a policy of “trickle-stocking” and this way avoid the “boom and bust” fishing.                                                                                                                                              Three Three of the lakes (Exmoor, Sedgemoor and Ottmoor) are stocked with “Normal” fish which are upto 2½ lbs – but there are also a few surprises. The other four lakes (Ironmill, Bellbrook, Bodmin and Dartmoor) are stocked with “Specimen” fish which are above 3 lbs and run upto very large. Last year the average sizes were 2lb in the Normal lakes and 5½lbs in the Specimen lakes.
