The Exmoor Bar at The George is full of history and character and you can almost hear the regulars from years gone by chatting quietly over their beer in the corner. Now, hotel guests mingle with locals in equally welcoming and convivial surroundings. No juke boxes or fruit machines here - just background music and lively conversation!
If it’s Real Ales you like, we stock Mainbrace and Freebooter from the Jollyboat Brewery in Bideford as well as Tribute from St Austell. We also have Guinness on draft as well as locally brewed bottled cider from the Winkleigh Cider Company.
We pride ourselves on our excellent wine list which caters for most tastes as well as pockets. Our excellent House Wines are a chilean Merlot, a south african Shiraz and a french Cotes du Rhone for those who like red wine and an italian Pinot Grigio, french Chardonnay and german Reisling for the whites. All House wines are priced at an affordable £10.95 a bottle or £2.95 per 175ml glass.
The top shelf includes an impressive array of Malt Whiskies as well as the milder cordials typically accompanying spirits in the West Country such as Lovage with Brandy and Shrub with Rum.
