Friday 4th April Ian Bruce - Scottish Folk
8.30 pm Tickets – £6.00
Ian Bruce has emerged one of the great singer / song-writers of the Scottish Folk Movement. His perennial return-bookings to festivals in Towersey, Warwick, Bromyard, Bedworth and farther afield are a testimony to his following amongst aficionados. Although his overall sound is traditional, word phrases and rhythms from many sources keep popping their heads over the parapet - blues, gospel, country, reggae and rock. A rich, powerful voice & witty banter will make this a great evening’s entertainment.

Another evening of comedy compered by the irrepressible Kevin Dewsbury featuring James Dowdeswell & Dave Thompson.Once described as "like Eminem rapping Shakespeare". James Dowdeswell's brand of rhythmic comedy is in the vanguard of a new breed of stand-up. Winner of the Jongleurs New Act Award in 2000, Dowdeswell is now a seasoned campaigner and a truly international comedian, having travelled as far as Shanghai and Dubai, Melbourne and Singapore. He recently supported Phil Kay on his national tour.
“Daniel Kitson may have spearheaded this sort of touching delicate comedy of awkwardness, but there's surely more room than one comic to follow the same style, and the next could be the scrawny Mr Dowdeswell." Chortle
Dave Thompson who writes with Harry Hill & Jim Tavare has appeared on TV with Al Murray, but may, strangely enough, be best known for appearing as Tinky Winky on the Teletubbies.

Wizz began his musical career leading a Country and Skiffle band called "The Wranglers" in his home town of Croydon, Surrey in 1958. He had been inspired to take up the acoustic guitar a year or so before this after hearing such guitar luminaries as Big Bill Broonzy, Rambling Jack Elliot and
Muddy Waters playing at a club in London organized by Cyril Davies and Alexis Korner. He enjoyed considerable success throughout the 70's In Europe and Scandinavia both as a touring
soloist and together with his wife Sandy in the group "Lazy Farmer". Wiz is a
favourite performer at The George and never disappoints.
Friday 8th August Gordon Giltrap
8.30pm Tickets £7.50
Over the past forty years, Gordon Giltrap has graced the music business with his dedication to his craft and his affection for his audience. Without a teacher to guide him, Gordon unwittingly taught himself a hybrid technique of plectrum and little finger, but in doing so, created the individual sound that is still his trademark. Gordon has worked with an amazingly broad range of artists, from rock musicians such as Brian May, Rick Wakeman and Midge Ure to the jazz virtuoso Martin Taylor, the classical guitarist Raymond Burley and the London Symphony Orchestra. Gordon's music continues to evade categorisation, influenced as it is by the rock guitar of Hank Marvin and Pete Townshend, the folk guitar of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the classical guitar of Julian Bream and John Williams. He has released 25 original studio albums, plus numerous live albums and compilations. Such is his popular following, all of Gordon’s previous visits have sold out.
