2nd June (Saturday) Biggin Hill 2007 Air Show
ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR DAYS OUT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE IN KENT. You do not have to be an enthusiast for old planes or aerobatics to go, but be warned you might become one after a day there! This year’s show will include the famous Red Arrows team. Also a Hurricane, a Lancaster, Spitfires, a Hawk, a Typhoon, a Chinook… We strongly recommend “ear mufflers”, particularly for children, as some of the aircraft can have a phenomenally loud roar. You might also consider paying the extra £14 per person to get grandstand seats (see website), but you can still have a great time without this extra.
Advance tickets £ 36 per family, to include car + 2 adults + up to 3 children; £45 per family if purchased at the gate / on the day. airdisplaysint.co.uk or telephone 01959 – 578 270. For any other questions, contact Sandra Robinson.
7th June (Thursday) Lullingstone Castle and Garden
A TOUR OF THE CASTLE AND THE GARDEN BY TOM HART DYKE. We will have the chance of a private tour of this spectacular World Garden - a breathtaking 3D map of the world with plants at Lullingstone, the home of Tom Hart Dyke. We are very fortunate that Tom, who is currently appearing on BBC1, will be our guide once again.
19th June (Tuesday) Summer Lunch - Ightham Mote
OUR 2007 SUMMER LUNCH WILL BE HELD AT IGHTHAM MOTE, a medieval moat house owned and run by the National Trust, a short drive from Sevenoaks. The house will be closed to the general public that day, so we will have exclusive use of the courtyard for a champagne reception, an introductory talk and a tour of some of the downstairs rooms. The three course lunch, including wine and coffee, will be held at the Mote Restaurant. The cost will be £27 per person. The booking form is at the back of the newsletter – please return your form to Linda Glennie by 5 June.
