The 2007-08 KIC Committee

The KIC Board members are elected at the AGM for a two year term.

President - Sandra Robinson is British.  Born in the Netherlands, she grew up in Belgium and finally lived in the UK when at University.  She then worked in Australia, Indonesia and Brussels as a development economist, latterly on the accession of the central and eastern European countries to the EU.  She has two sons, aged 6 and 8.  Sandra continues as President for 2007-08.

Vice President - Denise Brebner is Scots.  She spent five years in Alaska, an unusual expatriate posting!  She has two sons, one at University, one at school in Edinburgh. Having trained and worked as a nurse, she is now a volunteer with Home Start, a programme which helps families keep children at home rather than sending them into foster care.  A core member of the Sewing & Handicrafts Group, Denise will be Vice-President for 2007-08.

Secretary - Linda Glennie has lived most of her life overseas in the Middle and Far East, moving to Sevenoaks from Hong Kong twelve years ago.  She recently spent four years in Dubai.  She was a secondary school teacher at A-level for several years, and is now enjoying her leisure.  Linda currently runs the KIC Theatre Group and is Secretary to the Committee.

Treasurer - Debbie Heathcote is Australian, arriving in the UK from Melbourne in 2006 with husband Hec and daughter now aged 6. More than qualified to look after the finances for KIC, Debbie previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and AustCorp, most recently as Financial Reporting Manager.  Her interests include cooking, photography, reading, travel, swimming and watersports. She has also lived in Canada on two separate occasions.

Membership - Carol Jepps is British.  She has lived in France on three different occasions for a total of ten years.  In between she has lived in many parts of the UK settling in Sevenoaks six years ago.  She has a daughter at York University and a son who has recently finished University and entered the world of work. She is a Primary School and EFL teacher and currently works as a supply teacher in the Sevenoaks area.  Carol is Membership Secretary for 2007-8.

Hospitality - Mylan Curtis is Vienamese but left Vietnam when very young and travelled extensively with her family and then with her British husband, the latter including postings to Hong Kong, Italy and New York. She has 2 daughters, 15 and 21. The older one is disabled so it seemed only natural for Mylan to be involved with the charity Mencap. She is keen on meditation and holds meditation workshops for free. She is a regular bridge player and highly recommends the KIC bridge for people of all levels who want some fun! Being the Hospitality co-ordinator, she welcomes new members and makes sure the tea and coffee are freshly brewed at the monthly meetings!

Activity Coordinator - Chrissie Harvey spent 20 years in Hong Kong, including running a fancy-dress business there. A core member of the Sewing & Handicrafts Group, she continues as general Activities Coordinator for 2007-08.

Special Events - Cecilia Hollo is Hungarian.  Having spent 15 years living and working in Serbia, France, Netherlands and Israelshe came to the UK in Sept 2005 with her Dutch husband and now 4-year-old son. Cecilia is currently working on a London-based project and will continue to be in charge of KIC Special Events for 2007-08.

Workshops Coordinator - Barbara Bateson is British and has lived in Liberia, Dubai and the USA as well as Moscow temporarily.  Married to Jim with one grown up son, Barbara is our Open Door representative as well as coordinating KIC's membership of discount supplier Costco. She joined KIC in 1992 and enjoys cooking and embroidery.

Just for KIC's Newsletter Editor - Karen Brouard is British. She spent three years in Tokyo with her husband.  She has two teenage sons.  She originally worked in Human Resources but now enjoys doing cookery workshops.  Karen is Newsletter Editor for 2007-8.

Website Coordinator - Jane Rumgay came to the UK from Australia for 1 year as a backpacker, and has been here on-and-off ever since, including a 4 year stint in Hong Kong.  She has 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy.  She also runs her own PR business, helping raise the profiles of a group of mainly small local clients in and around Sevenoaks.  She is quickly learning the ins and outs of websites, but would welcome any contribution and ideas for the KIC site.
