Bagni Di Lucca is a Spa town situated on the banks of the river Lima, an ancient spa dating back to 2nd century when some Romanization of the area took place. Many restaurants and bars are in the town, it even has a tiny theatre. Many Aristocrats from England included this area in their Grand Tours of Europe so they could Take the Waters which were reputed to be excellent for the constitution.

Barga, a hilltop town with a magnificent  Romanesque Duomo built of white limestone on the summit of the hill overlooking the entire town. Dates back to the late medieval age and still maintains its fortified shape, with walls and doors defending the historical centre. This town is closely linked to Scotland.

Montefegatesi is a magnificent hill top village with the highest part of the village dedicated to the statue of Dante Alighieri. With a panoramic vista of the mountains, here you can be a witness to glorious sunsets.

Prato Fiorito. Literal translation, a meadow of flowers. An hour to walk to the top for the most spectacular views of the surrounding area. At the start of the walk you find a superb Gesso Sculpture of Christ on the Cross. In spring it is carpeted with wild flowers.

Ponte della Maddalena. Better known as the Devils Bridge, a bold and unique structure, built in around 1101 for the inhabitants who needed to cross the Serchio River, from  right to the left bank.


There are too many places of interest to list, but with planning you can have endless days of exploring this extraordinary region. Longer excursions can take you to Florence, Sienna, Pisa.
