Portlethen lies between Stonehaven and Aberdeen and is easily reached by dual carriageway in 10/15mins from Stonehaven.
The retail park on the east side of the dual carriageway has major retail outlets such as Asda, Homebase, Matalan as well as smaller businesses in new retail premises opened recently.
Badentoy Industrial Estate to the west is a local base for many international companies.
Also to the west work has began on a new development of around 700 houses.
Just next to Portlethen is the cliff top village of Downies which has a very small harbour.
