2D are a Council for Voluntary Service (CVS). As such we are a voluntary organisation that is set up, owned and run by local groups to support, promote and develop local voluntary and community action in the districts of Teesdale and Wear Valley. We support our members by providing them with a range of services and by acting as a voice for the local voluntary and community sector.
A note to members
We have in recent times had groups/organisations come to us on the brink of going under. I know that we are all in a climate of change and funding is getting harder to come by, I urge you to look carefully at your running costs for your next financial year and remember your reponsibilities in running an organisation. If you would like to talk through any concerns you may have about the future of your organisation then please do so at the earliest point and do not leave it to the last minute. Staff at 2D are here to try and help or point you in the right direction so please contact us, don't what ever you do stick your heads in the sand!
Characteristics of individual CVS’s differ from place to place as they reflect the needs and concerns of their members and service users within their area of benefit. However, all CVS’s support, promote and develop local voluntary and community action in the following key areas.
Development, Support and Liaison
2D looks to identify needs in the local community and ways to bring about improvement in service provision to meet those needs. We help local organisations be better equipped to function effectively and deliver quality services to their users and members. We smooth the progress of effective communication, networking and collaboration amongst local voluntary and community groups.
Representation and Strategic Partnership Work
We enable the diverse views of the local voluntary and community sector to be represented to external bodies, such as local authorities and other public agencies. We develop and facilitate structures, which promote effective working relationships and two way communication. We aim to enhance the voluntary and community sector’s role as an integral part of local planning and policy making.
Examples of the ways in which we can help include:
-
Administration support (photocopying, conference facilities etc.).
-
Advice and support (funding, constitutions, insurance, quality etc.)
-
Information (books, leaflets, newsletters, member emails etc.).
-
Promotion and networking ( websites, newsletters etc) to name but a few!!
Remember, if you have a problem or query, give us a call. We will do our best to help you, and If we don’t know the answer then we probably know someone who does!
